The carpet flame retardancy tester is used to detect the effect of small ignition sources on carpets. Two testing methods are available: the hot metal nut method (BS 4790) and the polymer plate method (ISO 6925 and BS 6307). The test chamber is made of flame-retardant and heat-resistant material and is equipped with a sliding plate for easy operation. A mirror on the top of the test chamber allows the operator to observe the sample during the test.

Application

Carpet flammability testers are widely used in the following fields:

Architectural Decoration: Evaluating the flame retardant properties of carpets in public places (such as hotels, shopping malls, office buildings, etc.) to reduce fire risks.

Transportation: Testing the flammability of carpets in the interiors of aircraft, ships, trains, and other transportation vehicles to ensure passenger safety.

Textile Fabrics: Evaluating the flame retardant properties and heat shrinkage resistance of carpets with various fiber compositions and weave structures.

Other Fields: Such as shipping materials, building materials, etc., ensuring the safety of related materials in actual use.

Test Procedures

Hot Nut Method: Heat the stainless - steel nut to 900°C in a muffle furnace. Place the sample to be tested in the test chamber and use crucible tongs to put the positioning ring on the sample. Place the heated nut in the center of the positioning ring, remove the nut after 30 seconds, and then conduct measurements to evaluate the spread of the ignition point on the sample.

Polymer Plate Method: It is recommended to place the test chamber in a laboratory fume hood. Put the conditioned sample on the movable base in the test chamber, and place a metal disc with a circular cut - edge on the sample. Place the polymer plate in the center of the sample and ignite it. After the flame is extinguished, measurements can be carried out to evaluate the combustion effect.
